As a Muslim woman, one of the biggest days of our lives is our wedding day.
It’s the day we look forward to. We imagine it to be a magical day with our big beautiful dresses and all eyes on us as we walk down the aisle. Right?
Well for the gorgeous ‘Jasmine Fares’ she decided against this and chose to not have the ‘big day’. Jasmine Fares is a Lebanese 25 year old, who currently lives in Toronto. She did her honours bachelor in science and later realised that this career path was not for her. She now makes regular videos on YouTube with her husband ‘Dawoud Harb’. She is also an influencer on Instagram with a following of 269k.

Jasmine went to Dawoud’s family restaurant with Dawoud’s sister and she caught Dawoud’s eye. Not too long after they began getting to know each other.
Jasmine and Dawoud didn’t set their goal on a fancy wedding but instead, used that money to buy a house. Jasmine admitted that not having a wedding meant ” letting go of a big part of their lives”. Both sides of the couples family were very supportive of their decision.
They both explained how owning a home was much more important to them than having an enormous expensive wedding. Both the bride and the groom felt that making themselves happy was their top priority. As well as this they found that it was not worth spending on other people.
This decision was not a spontaneous one. They began attending weddings while planning theirs and quickly realised how “people are never satisfied. They complain about the food and seating.” “They were all very materialistic complaints”.
Could this have been the main cause of their choice?

They ended their vlog explaining how they wouldn’t just not have a wedding and do nothing after that. The beautiful couple planned a lush honeymoon and they also bought a house! They had a photoshoot with close family and hosted a lunch to celebrate.
