Holding on to those tiny hands enclosed with safety and love, starting off with the two of us, soon there were three. In a blink of an eye there were six of us on the journey.
I wish I could stop time to enjoy you growing a little slowly, but you keep growing so fast.
Everyday, we have wonderful questions, exciting discussions through the park, some totally imaginative and some to understand how the trees help us breathe.
These moments that seemed to you just a walk to school, for me they are memories to treasure.
I didn’t realise how time flew so quickly – now it was time for secondary school.
Firstly, the eldest left my hands, the next year the second; each year as a pair of hands left, my heart ached a little more. My prayers are always with you and of course forever in my heart you remain.
I have three pairs of hands left now, soon two will leave.
The joys of having twins, double sadness I say.
But for now I know I have one tiny hand with me to last me a few more years.
Those tiny hands, so strong, held onto my fingers from birth leaving imprints forever; my hands are strong enough to catch all five of you if you should ever fall.
You are still the same heartbeats that beat within me together as one, all from the same womb nourished; never forget your connections.
I am still your home and shall forever remain.
