Life sometimes gets so busy that we forget to take care of one of the most important relationships in our lives. The relationship we have with our spouse. We have kids, work and family commitments, so alone time can really be limited. Having that alone time is so important and without it, the relationship can really lose its spark. So here are a few easy ideas to get the joy and fun back into your relationship.
Play games
You probably haven’t played a board game or any game in years so how about a private game’s night? It can be anything you want, Monopoly, Uno or Dominos. Having a little banter over who wins is a great way to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
Check out the city views
Find the local roof top garden or restaurant in your area and book a table. Enjoy the views together and check out your city.
Go Bowling
Bowling is so much fun. Plus, it is light exercise and will do you both good while releasing stress.
Visit a nature reserve
Go to a nature reserve for some peace, quite and fresh air. The atmosphere will have you super relaxed with nature all around. Maybe take binoculars with you and do a spot of bird watching. The sounds and singing from the birds can bring that romance back, even if it is just for a little while.
Go for a picnic
There is nothing like sitting on a blanket in the sun with a delicious picnic basket. Make it easy and just grab a few things from the supermarket. Just take your time to relax and chat while nibbling on snacks.
Go for a boat ride
Find whatever boats are available in your area. If it’s a river boat or even a rowing boat, everything looks and feels so nice on water.
Go ice skating
Something else you probably haven’t done in years is ice skating. Its so much fun and a real workout for both of you.
Be a tourist for the day
There are probably so many things that have changed in your city or areas you went to when you were younger. It’s so good to go back and wonder around and checkout what’s new, reminisce and make new memories.
Take a weekend trip
It’s hard to arrange babysitting to get away for a two week holiday but a weekend trip is much easier. Plus if anything happens you can get back quickly as you are likely to travel somewhere close by. Enjoy the alone time to check out the area and relax without the kids. Make it really fun and rent accommodation with a hot tub!
Go to a theme park
Going to a theme park without kids is a totally different experience. Go on all the rides you loved as a child . Eat as much candyfloss and sweets as you want without having the kids there to share with.
Go to the local garden centre
For something really relaxing go to the garden centre. It’s so relaxing and peaceful. So many now have lovely little cafes so grab a coffee there too. Enjoy checking out all the flowers and buy some roses to remember the day with.
Stargaze
This is a classic but so romantic. It’s so nice to spend the night outside and in the dark. Get two chairs out, a few snacks, sit back and enjoy the night sky. Even if it’s chilly you can always make it more cosy with a shared blanket.
Whatever you choose to do, make spending time alone together a priority. Relationships are like plants and only flourish if you water and look after them. Always remember Allah will bless and reward you for the efforts you make with your spouse.
