The first time I had ever heard of positive affirmations was probably from my father at the age of 12. My father is a heavy believer in manifestation. At that age he had ingrained into me mantras and manifestation. I’ve lived by these rules my entire life since then and I’ve found them to have had a positive impact on my life. I plan to share them with you what they are, and how I apply them.
What Is An Affirmation?
So what is a positive affirmation? To me positive affirmations and mantras are basically the same thing. A positive affirmation is a saying or phrase that has a positive spin on it to help motivate yourself. The idea is that if you keep re-drilling and keep saying this to yourself time and time again, you will naturally align with it and it will help you out in life. For example one may be “I cannot fail my energy will not allow it”. By using this saying again and again you will naturally align yourself to this thought to the point that it will become ingrained in you and will become second nature. By saying you cannot fail and reassuring yourself of that, your body and mind will act that way and therefore you will see the results.
Of course it’s not that easy. Many people believe that simply having and saying the positive affirmations that everything you want will naturally come to you. Whilst there may be little truth to that, one way of ensuring that you’re a little bit more successful with your affirmations is to also put in the work required. It should go without saying not only do you need to align your mind to your goal but you also need to align your actions to it as well. If that weren’t the case I’d be a 5”10 model by now.
Note: This is a 5’10 model.
How Do I Make One?
So how do you even come up with affirmations? Well affirmations are different for everybody as everybody wants different things. I would say the best way to come up with one is to envision what you want or how you want to act. Let’s say you want to be more confident in your actions. You would focus on how you feel when you are confident and repeat that to yourself. Always make sure it is about you! If it does not have anything to do about how you feel or what you are doing, then why would you even be telling yourself that for motivation? You also must always make sure they are positive. To plant negative thoughts in your mind is basically setting yourself up to fail.
Take 5
A lot of people have affirmations however don’t know how to apply it to themselves or even how they would apply it to their situations. The answer is easy. It’s a saying, not some magic bean. You can’t simply say the words and your world will change as you know it. The idea of the affirmation is to keep your mind focused so that you can remember and motivate yourself on your goals. Many say theirs to themselves when they wake up or maybe some take 5 minutes a day simply to align themselves and remind themselves of their affirmations and goals. I would recommend this. Sometimes it’s very easy to get caught up in day to day stuff and the goals you set seem very far and unattainable at this point. A simple 5 minutes can help to refocus yourself and just remind you of your goals and your mission. If you can’t do that I would say simply remind yourself in your free time.
The Best Way To Affirm
Whilst all of these are important things to know, the most important and powerful way to help with your affirmations is Salah. Salah is not only our opportunity to chat to Allah but also our opportunity to voice how we feel to Allah. By praying Salah and understanding that it is a form of affirmation instead of putting this stress upon yourself, you are allowing Allah to take that away from you and accepting his plan. As whilst you may want something really bad, sometimes it’s simply not in the plan Allah has set out for you. We may be able to affirm and believe that we can help ourselves, however sometimes we have to accept there are some things that we have no power over and in these moments we must trust Allah.
Positive affirmations are used by some of the most successful people in the world and in fact it helps keep a healthy mind. By keeping your thoughts positive and progressive you will naturally become positive and progressive. However I cannot stress enough that it alone will not help and change your life around. Positive affirmations need not only positive actions alongside with them but also for you to remain consistent in your goals. By sticking to your affirmations hopefully this helps your day out a little bit more and makes it just a tiny bit more positive.
