Like many people I have a small kitchen and limited space. Therefore, any kitchen gadget I buy must be good enough to take up the aforementioned much needed space. Unless it’s something I can use on a daily basis or weekly at least then I won’t buy it. I am talking about the things like the doughnut, popcorn and waffle makers. As nice as they are, they are just not used often enough to warrant taking up the cupboard space. If you have space by all means go ahead and buy them.
Airfryer
Now let’s start with my favourite item, the Air-fryer. They were really expensive just a few years back but now really reasonably priced and available everywhere. They are fantastic for everything. They work as a mini oven and grill so perfect for cooking or heating. They are so much faster than using a conventional oven and so healthy as they don’t need any oil. They are safe for teenagers to use for those late-night snacks too. I opted for a pricier model which has a rotisserie chicken option and trust me it’s a game changer!
Instapot
My second item has to be one of the best cooking inventions of our time in my opinion. It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker and normal cooking pot all in one. It can cook so much, from curries to soups and stews. For me, the best thing it has is the pressure cooker. Now I have never liked normal pressure cookers as they seem so scary and could explode any minute. Ok that’s actually never happened but the fear still stopped me buying one. But the Instapot feels so safe and the lid locks securely. It cooks lamb or beef in no more than half an hour. I can have a beautiful meat curry cooked perfectly in less than 40 minutes, which is fantastic. The meat is so tender and falls off the bone. For those like me who have a family who love curries and stews, then get an Instapot, it’s a game changer.
Handheld Blender
I know when you look at it, you’re thinking, why? What’s the point of it even? But I use it to cheat in so many recipes. Yes, I use it to cheat my way to a smooth creamy béchamel sauce and beautiful smooth soups. Plus, I use it in my curries to blend and hide vegetables from my kids. If you have fussy eaters like mine, then this is the gadget for you.
Grilling Machine
There are so many out there and whichever one you have doesn’t really matter. They are just so useful, especially if you’re a family on the go. With everyone coming and going at different times, it’s perfect to quickly grill food. We use it for everything, from zaatar breads to thin meat pies. They cook perfectly and quickly. We pretty much use it every day.
Food Processor
With this in your kitchen It’s like having a second pair of hands. It can quickly grate cheese for me or make perfect shortcrust pastry. It’s just an all-rounder and no kitchen should be without one.
Hope you liked my top five gadgets, anyone with any gems that you can’t do without?
