Whomever I’ve wronged by intent, word or deed; I pray to God to bless them with a thousand times more goodness than I can ever deserve.
To the stranger, who opened the door for me and yet I failed in thanking him.
To the old lady who struggled crossing the street, and I turned away heedlessly despite noticing.
To the customer service representative on the phone whom I raised my voice at for being overbilled just a few dollars, knowing he puts up with many like me on a daily basis, whilst making minimum wage merely to feed a family at home.
To the sister on the street wearing hijab whom I glanced at intentionally, despite knowing she is protecting herself by obeying God.
To my neighbours, for never knocking on their doors and asking if they need help, without having a reason to.
And most of all, to my Lord, for letting me close my eyes another night and open them one more morning despite consistently wronging others and my own soul.
Apologising is a universal concept. To apologise earlier, is better than one that’s delayed. It doesn’t reduce your status in the eyes of God nor people.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us: “Oh God, whomever I have abused, reward them with purity”
If you’ve not apologised already, do it before your beating heart shuts down pumping blood through your veins. A process you never had control over to begin with, except the One who created you!
